We all often wonder what on earth are BB creams and CC creams; are they the same as foundations, what are the differences, what do they even do? Well stop worrying, I’m going to help and also use product examples. Lets get started!
Short for Beauty Balm or Blemish Balm. BB creams provide coverage with added skin care benefits such as SPF and antioxidants. They are creamy and moisturising providing a natural, sheer appearance. I find that they’re lighter than foundation but heavier than tinted moisturisers. The intention of a BB cream is to be a time saving product combining colour, moisture treatment ingredients and sun protection.
Maybelline Dream Pure BB ($15.95 AUD)
There are 5 shades of this particular product which are Light, Light/Medium, Medium, Medium/Deep and Deep. I am currently using shade Light. This 8 in 1 BB cream helps to conceal imperfections, reduce blemishes, calm redness, minimise pores, adjust to skin tone, oil-free, contains 2% salicylic acid & vitamins and also contains SPF 15. Maybelline’s Dream Pure BB is perfect for oily-combination skin and can be used with or without a moisturiser.
Short for colour correcting. CC Creams address to issues such as redness or sallowness. They have more of a whipped, light, fluffy feel and finish. It does seem to feel lighter and faster absorbing on the skin. CC Creams contain light-diffusing particles and antioxidants that visually even skin tone and help to fight the signs of ageing.
Arbonne CC Cream ($49 AUD)
The Arbonne CC Cream is a part of the ‘Arbonne Intelligence’ range containing latest science and botanicals to develop revolutionary formulas. There are 4 shades which include Fair, Light, Medium and Dark. I use shade Fair. This 10 in 1 CC Cream helps to create a beautiful, healthier looking complexion. You can build the coverage of this CC Cream to your desire whilst it conceals blemishes and dark spots, minimises the appearance of pores, soothes and hydrates your skin. Not only does Arbonne’s CC Cream provide these benefits, it additionally primes, mattifies and brightens your skin for an even skin tone. Ingredients include Phytinol* and caper fruit extract.
Hopefully this blog has helped, and honestly, there isn’t a drastic difference between BB Creams and CC Creams. It’s what you feel most comfortable and happy wearing on your skin! 🙂
Thanks so much for reading and keep smiling 😉
*Phytinol: Alfalfa extract and chicory extract promote improved skin tonicity and surface smoothness for a less lined look.
NOTE: You can also mix these creams in with your foundation, primer and moisturiser.
