Protect Your Skin!

We all know how important it is to wear SPF! Living in Queensland, we are exposed much more to UVA and UVB rays. So, unfortunately here in Queensland, we have a much higher risk of developing skin cancers. SPF is incredibly vital to wear each day! Of course, its important to soak in some Vitamin D, but I think all of us need to understand the importance of implementing SPF within our daily routine! It doesn’t even matter if its winter time, use a moisturiser with SPF or sunscreen all year round.

SPF stands for ‘Sun Protection Factor.’ The SPF numbers displayed on any sunscreen, moisturiser, even foundations range from 2 to 100. These numbers determine the products capacity to block out the sun’s burning rays. Therefore, the higher the SPF number, the better! Here is my advice: Make the effort to apply SPF and ensure it is integrated in your daily morning routine. Ensure the SPF is higher than 20 and always apply it around 15-30 minutes before any sun exposure. Not only should you wear sunscreen, but when out in the sun for a period of time wear a hat and sunglasses.

I’m not a big fan of greasy moisturisers or sunscreen. So, here are some good products I recommend for you to use to help protect your skin:

SkinCeuticals ‘Physical Matte UV Defence’

The SPF count is 50. SkinCeuticals provides products for those with any skin type. This particular product is a mattifying sunscreen. Containing silica, it has a lightweight mousse texture that dries to a powdery finish. It also contains titanium dioxide and zinc oxide to provide high broad spectrum UV protection. It’s a skin-toned colour, so it gives a nice coverage and helps to reduce the appearance of pores. It actually feels very matte when I apply it on my skin. The texture reminds me a lot of Arbonne’s Makeup Primer.

Arbonne Liquid Sunshine Mineral Sunscreen for Face

The SPF count is 30. I recommend to apply this product after your daily moisturiser. Arbonne’s ingredients are all botanically based meaning this sunscreen is vegan and gluten free. Main ingredients for Arbonne’s Sunscreen are aloe vera, green tea leaf extracts and Vitamin E. It is water-resistant containing non-nano titanium dioxide and zinc oxide to protect us from UVA and UVB rays. I find that this sunscreen does provide a soothing, moisturising feeling. It feels super light weight and non-greasy!

Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery

This is a moisturiser and contains and SPF number of 50. This product is truly perfect to use everyday, especially if you don’t feel like applying a numerous amount of products. I actually use this product everyday! Formulated without artificial fragrances and colours, Dermalogica’s Dynamic Skin Recovery provides critical protection from daylight exposure and reinforces a natural moisture barrier. Not only does it help protect your skin from the sun, but it additionally assists in preventing the signs of ageing.
