I’ve been doing research in regards to fake makeup and have found many articles discussing the dangers of purchasing and using counterfeit cosmetics.
You hear a lot of people purchasing counterfeit makeup thinking ‘oh it won’t do any harm, besides it’s a lot cheaper.’ Think again! There are dire consequences when it comes to purchasing and using any type of fake cosmetic.
How can you tell if makeup is fake?
- Dodgy looking websites or markets that sell high-end makeup for a much cheaper price
- The casing, the brand writing appears very different to the authentic brand. It will appear cheaper looking.
- The scent will not be fresh because the ingredients are not authentic
- Overall, the quality is complete rubbish.
Why you should never ever purchase counterfeit makeup:
You don’t know what’s in them!
Very dangerous substances such as Mercury, Lead, Arsenic, Cyanide and even human urine and rat droppings are often found in counterfeit cosmetics. Absolutely disgusting! So, apparently certain counterfait makeup has around 19 times the legal limit of lead in them. This is beyond atrocious! Can you only imagine the severe health problems this will cause. The high level of toxins in these products lead to severe allergic reactions, skin rashes, burns and even high blood pressure. Just google fake makeup reactions and you will see the devastating results! Bacteria is another severe risk. These products are not produced in the same hygienic conditions as authentic makeup is. Therefore, they can easily contaminate your body, the bacteria will spread, go into your skin and into your immune system.
It’s Illegal!
If you do purchase fake makeup, this money is going to continue to fund crime. Just think about it, they are stealing the authentic makeup’s designs! An interesting quote I found regarding authentic makeup brands: “They spend millions of dollars promoting their brand and doing all the right things with innovation and product development, only to have somebody create a substandard product with false branding.” It’s very disappointing to say the least.
